Vermont Log and Timber Frame Builders LLC

I began my building career as a little boy helping my father and Grandfather (who himself was a builder) build our family garage, a few boats and a great deal of remodeling. After attending the University of New Hampshire I pursued a career in business management, all the while using my knack for carpentry to supplement my income. I spent much of the early 80's managing retail stores and then a small lumberyard. I met a custom builder who was producing custom colonial housing in the seacoast area of NH and spent several years working for him growing in the finer points of the trade. Finally moving back to the North Country and starting my own business in 1987 as Elliott Construction. Moving to West Danville, Vermont in 1989 my wife and I have been raising 3 beautiful daughters as well as expanding on what we can offer our clients. I spent the next 10 years building custom homes throughout Northern NH and Vermont. In 1997 my wife and I built our free standing Model Log Home and opened Vermont Home Specialties Incorporated. With our free standing model we have been able to offer our customers a wide range of other products such as Real Log Homes brand log homes a high quality custom log home product and Timberpeg brand post and beam housing one of the finest products available. As well as retail sales of kitchens, lighting and furniture, artwork, quilts, curtains and my other home decor items. These are supplemental to our primary business of building custom homes and we are able to offer reduced pricing to our clients and can incorporate them into the design of their homes.

Over the last 23 years I have continued to keep abreast of the changing building sciences attending many seminars and training programs including Kitchen design, building science, foam application, steel roofing, EPA certified renovator for lead paint abatement. Classes in building design from Timberpeg and Real Log Homes and many sales and training conventions for these fine companies as well as sales awards.

We have had the good fortune to have several homes featured in Log Home magazines such as Log Home Design, Log Home Living, and Vermont Builder/Architect thanks to some special clients who allowed this to happen by allowing the photo shooting of their homes.

So I guess it all boils down to this, we work for our clients to produce the home of their dreams. We spend a lot of time listening to their wants and needs and providing the information needed for them to make an informed decision as to what they are purchasing. My job is to understand what the customer's expectations are and then manage the project to come in on time and on budget. The greatest compliment that I have received on many occasions is that we got more than we ever dreamed of. This is my goal for each and every client.
